Tourists arrival in February reaches 592 500 people

Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) recorded the number of arrivals of foreign tourists (tourists) in February 2012 reached 592 500 people, up 4.3 percent over the same period last year.

"The number of those coming up from last year which only reached 568 100 people," BPS chief Suryamin in Jakarta, Monday (02/04/2012).

Suryamin explained, the largest number of arrivals recorded at Bali Ngurah Rai as many as 209 100 people, followed by Soekarno-Hatta Airport and Tanjung Uban 154 600 of 23 400 people.

"The number of arrival at Ngurah Rai increased compared to last year because in 2011 there were only 201 500 people," he said.

However, when compared with January 2012, the number of arrivals has decreased since February is not the holiday season.

"Overall arrivals fell by 9.22 percent since January stood at 652.6 thousand people," said Suryamin.

Cumulatively, in January-February, arrivals of tourists reached 1.25 million, up 11.49 percent over the same period last year amounted to 1.12 million people.

Meanwhile, five-star hotel room occupancy rate in 20 provinces in February at an average of 50.78 percent, down 0.56 points compared to last year amounted to 51.34 percent.

"Similarly, when compared with the room occupancy rate in January 2012, in February also fell 0.49 percent," said Suryamin.

The average length of stay for foreign guests and Indonesia in a five-star hotel in 20 provinces during February rose 0.02 days compared to the same situation last year.
